Gilang Fradika has grew up as a part of a global cultural ecosystem that is present in the form of cartoon series shown through the television screens in the family room - then in the private space via smart phones in your hand. Characters from various corners of the earth, such as Mickey Mouse, Pinocchio, Aladdin and Doraemon, have been a part of Gilang Fradika's life since childhood, this leads to how he can experience and share the same stories with people of one generation from various nations. In accordance with the cultural background and the spirit of his era, Gilang's works do not carry religious and mystical themes, nor do they make horror and contemplativeness the main nuances, but instead they are presented in bright, pleasant and sensual paintings. Gilang uses figures in global fairy tales to tell the problems of contemporary society, which makes his works become honest and down to earth. At first impression, we will find witty surrealist figures, bright landscapes and poetic nuances. However, when we enter the mind in these paintings we will see the reflection of the painter’s on environmental damage, the narcissism of today's society, as well as their competitive nature in achieving success
The exhibition runs until 19 January 2019
